Lessons From TraditionThe terrace was only 10×10 feet, but the brief was never simply to decorate it. The goal was to create a calm, usable retreat—one that could support morning tea, plants, quiet pauses and intimate conversations without feeling crowded.
In a compact terrace, circulation, seating and greenery compete for the same limited footprint. The solution came through precise zoning, restrained furniture and clear movement paths so the space remained open, comfortable and visually balanced.
Plants were not treated as decoration added at the end. Their height, texture and placement defined privacy, softened edges and created depth. Layered planting helped the terrace feel more generous while bringing seasonal movement and life into the composition.
When the area is limited, every joint, finish and transition becomes visible. Durable outdoor materials, controlled colours and careful workmanship gave the terrace a sense of calm. Simplicity worked only because the details were resolved with discipline.
